Meat FREE Monday’s – ANY ONE?

does any one else enjoy Meat FREE MONDAYS as much as we do?

it is seriously a family tradition in our house now. We don’t eat any where near as much meat as we used to, and have easily been able to incorporate plenty of vegan and vegetarian dishes into the rest of our week.

these little babies were super easy to make and so awesome for the summer weather.
If your anything like me, the last thing you want to do is turn on the oven in the heat – and heat the house up even more.
So when you see a window of cooler weather, switch on that oven and get creative.

Frittatas are awesome and can include any thing! they are all about the eggs, and the veggies are what ever is left over in the fridge or in some cases – whats on special or in season at the market!

in the picture above i’ve made zucchini and corn, but remember the eggs are the star of the dish!
ingredients – method :
2 small zucchini’s grated
1 can of corn kernals drained
1/2 a large onion diced
10 eggs
3/4 cup of grated cheese
pinch of salt and pepper
2 tsp curry powder
mix all ingredients together well (if you have any herbs add them!

I love using my pyrex dishes, and in this instance i used a square one.
baked in the oven on 180 degrees fan forced for 40minutes
Once cooled i cut it into large slices and placed in a container in the fridge.
I sliced them into bite size pieces because they were appealing for the kids. But you could do this for a dinner party dish! top it with a half cherry tomato. you could also place a piece of smoked salmon, capers and dill on top. everything works with a frittata!

Good luck – Leia

have you ever been on a “Man Date” ? this is the newest date night SPOT!

If your man is NOT impressed with your choice of “Man Date” dinner dining – then you are with the wrong guy!!!

Juicy moist meat filled buns… ALWAYS a winner!

Most of the time i dont even think it matters what sort of meat is in the bun, nor does it matter of what the shape of the bun is like. But this place has it all! from hotdogs with amazing fancy fillings and burgers that will knock your socks off – or your MANS at least! where is it? i hear you saying with your tongue in cheek, slightly salivating… ok, ok, who are we kidding you are drooling!

the one, the only –

BREAD AND BONE WOOD GRILL

located on Peel Street in Adelaide City

This place has the music pumping, the atmosphere to match and the food with the ultimate Man Date salivation!

The chips or fries should i say were perfectly seasoned and complimented the burgers well. No longer will i order a burger while out that does not come with chippies. we all love a good bowl of chips at the worst of times, but when they dont come with a burger… that truly frustrates the heck out of me.

Dan had the 3 little pigs burger that was super impressive! so well thought out for a man who thinks bacon is a food group on its own. and mine was the chicken burger. what a banging crumb all over it, it had! superb. it was obviously drained of excess fat/drippings because there was not a droplet to be seen of oil or grease coming out of my burger. for my self it was an 8/10 for food, but it was a 10/10 for the ultimate man date by my husband.

You be the judge! and on your next “date night” where you want to take your man some where that he wont make a fuss – this is the place to visit.

Taste of the Himalayas – Brighton

Not every one would know this place is here, it would probably go un-noticed being a small place on a busy street. Unless you lived in the area, or were passing here frequently. It certainly shouldnt go un-noticed considering the food is great, and the value even better.

Here are a few dishes from our last visit:

Every one loves a Samosa

Mestizo Cocina Peruana – Glenelg South

WHAT A BAR!

this place certainly had our taste buds set in over drive, with a beautifully nice relaxed atmosphere – Will at the bar was hands down one of the best waiters/bar men we have ever seen or had. Not only was he nice, he was funny, he was attentive, and gave advice on what to order. Honestly i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, we love good service and it certainly contributes to an awesome night to be had when you’ve been served great food as well.

Located at 114 Partridge street Glenelg South, you will not be disappointing with the food or price tags.

Here we have Passion fruit sorbet, pecan, mint, meringue.

Pisco sour cocktail

Lomo Saltado – wok fried beef fillet, coriander, aji Amarillo, cherry tomato, papas frittas

Seriously good, good, good in so many ways – i couldnt fault anything. everything was cooked to perfection and presented well. reasonable sized portions for price too.

Thanks guys, we will be back soon

Here you will always see something new, something in with fresh ingredients or a new flavour sweet treat!

take these 3 donuts for example. who’s ever tried a peanut butter and jelly topped donut? Genius! Maple syrup and bacon – i NEVER! or how does a hazel nut and honey icing sound to you? AMAZEBALLS in my book. only complaint with this lot, was the hazel nut was stale. i really wish they had bought out some fresh ones. flavours were great though.

Another place that offers an all day breakfast is regarded highly in my book. As Matt works close to here, he spends a lot of time visiting. So i’m sure there will be plenty of new posts with whats new coming soon.

Sit Lo – Bank Street Adelaide

Sometimes its not what’s on the plate that counts…

this cute little cafe is tucked away off of one of adelaide’s busiest streets. Serving top quality asian food with fresh ingredients and amazing flavours. It certainly is an experience when walking through the door at lunch time to be greeted with a smile.

Not only does the place have that up-cycle vibe that i love, it also has that modern feel too. so it really did make me feel at home. the long table through the centre was hands down one of the best features to this little joint, because its all about making people unite and come together – even when you dont know people, you can still sit together or next to each other.

Those Lotus Chips were sen-fricken-sational! so crispy, not like anything i had ever eaten before – and at a side serve of just $4.50 it certainly is not going to break the budget. a Delicious beef Pho was fresh and fragrant and thoroughly enjoyed.

IMG_9258

Then there was the take away delicious crispy pork noodle bowl at just $10.50. it was another great combination of flavours that worked so well together texturally and packed full of the drool factor.

I’m positive you wont be dissapointed with what Sit Lo has to offer, and you will go back again and again to try more of the menu like we have.

Bon Appetite
