Butter Fingers – North Adelaide

Sometimes dessert comes 1st…

Meet Matts 2nd stomach! the dessert stomach. We have been here a few times in the past month and just to get our blog up to date with our instagram and facebook accounts we are posting a few visits into the one blog post.

I wont dribble on too much about how fantastic this place is – i’m sure if you visit you will see how the pies can truly blow your mind with flaky-ness! wholly mother of food gods, you have not had a pie until you’ve had a PIE from Butter Fingers.

Mestizo Cocina Peruana – Glenelg South

WHAT A BAR!

this place certainly had our taste buds set in over drive, with a beautifully nice relaxed atmosphere – Will at the bar was hands down one of the best waiters/bar men we have ever seen or had. Not only was he nice, he was funny, he was attentive, and gave advice on what to order. Honestly i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, we love good service and it certainly contributes to an awesome night to be had when you’ve been served great food as well.

Located at 114 Partridge street Glenelg South, you will not be disappointing with the food or price tags.

Here we have Passion fruit sorbet, pecan, mint, meringue.

Here you will always see something new, something in with fresh ingredients or a new flavour sweet treat!

take these 3 donuts for example. who’s ever tried a peanut butter and jelly topped donut? Genius! Maple syrup and bacon – i NEVER! or how does a hazel nut and honey icing sound to you? AMAZEBALLS in my book. only complaint with this lot, was the hazel nut was stale. i really wish they had bought out some fresh ones. flavours were great though.

Another place that offers an all day breakfast is regarded highly in my book. As Matt works close to here, he spends a lot of time visiting. So i’m sure there will be plenty of new posts with whats new coming soon.

Chia Puddings – Are EASY PEASY

Seriously! I mean — SERIOUSLY!!!
How have I not discovered these earlier?

If your on a health kick like me, you need to jump on the ban wagon and try making a chia pudding.
So what is it you say?
did you know that chia seeds can grow to 10 times their size when absorbing liquid?
Well now you do!
It’s chia seeds in milk. Not just plain cows milk, ANY milk you want to use. I like using almond milk, but I’ve been known to use rice milk and coconut milk for these chia puddings.
The texture is a little bit like rice cream. Remember the old school rice cream in a can? It’s texture is very similar. So texturally if you didn’t like the rice puddings, you probably won’t like these puddings.

Flavour combos
chocolate milk, milo, strawberry milk, vanilla milk, eggnog, banana milk. You could do any of these with toppings (if wanted) I haven’t done mine like this because I don’t like added sugars and artificial flavourings.
But you could use cacao powder, cinnamon, mango, peach, kiwi fruit, cherry, blueberry, banana, apricot, honey, coffee & any other fruits you like! Simply purée them up & add milk of your choice.

Roughly it’s 1 cup of milk or liquid to 1/8 cup chia seeds to make a pudding.

your liquid may be a combination of puréed fruit and milk

The BEST recipe so far that is hands down, my FAVOURITE is – Mango, Banana, Cinnamon & Coconut Milk.

IMG_0982.JPG

1 banana
1 mango (or equivalent in frozen pieces)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 can of coconut milk

Makes 3 puddings a bit larger than a cup each.
Prepare 3 jars with 1/8 cup of chia seeds and poor your liquid in. Give it a stir or if the jar has a lid, shake it up.

These make great snacks, desserts or even breakfast. Very filling and can be super tasty depending on what you like and what you want to use.

Here is a coffee one I made over the weekend

You know your in luck when…

You know the feeling of going to another market?
You get all excited that there will be a different crowed of people, new faces, delicious new produce, great things you haven’t seen before!
Until you set your sights on…
*drum roll please*

……..
Udder Delights Cheese

IMG_1137.JPG
So tasty, so creamy, soft, moist, delicious, made to perfection!! And when I set my eyes on the stall, I was most excited to see a familiar product/company. So it’s not every market you enjoy seeing new products and faces, sometimes you have to stick to the good ol’ trusty ones as well.

Eggless Dessert Bar

When someone can say “new menu every month” and live up to those words, you know your onto a good thing.

although sometimes they do re-live and re-create popular old desserts, this is one husband and wife that work hard to achieve the best of the best and not only in the food sense but also in the customer service side of things also.

We will touch more on Eggless through out the blog – as we visit every month and sometimes weekly if given the chance

If you have NEVER been. Seriously, do your self a favour and take your friends or family on an intimate yet playful dining experience and try a tasting plate to indulge your taste buds. Enjoy every BITE xx

Sit Lo – Bank Street Adelaide

Sometimes its not what’s on the plate that counts…

this cute little cafe is tucked away off of one of adelaide’s busiest streets. Serving top quality asian food with fresh ingredients and amazing flavours. It certainly is an experience when walking through the door at lunch time to be greeted with a smile.

Not only does the place have that up-cycle vibe that i love, it also has that modern feel too. so it really did make me feel at home. the long table through the centre was hands down one of the best features to this little joint, because its all about making people unite and come together – even when you dont know people, you can still sit together or next to each other.

IMG_9255

Those Lotus Chips were sen-fricken-sational! so crispy, not like anything i had ever eaten before – and at a side serve of just $4.50 it certainly is not going to break the budget. a Delicious beef Pho was fresh and fragrant and thoroughly enjoyed.

IMG_9258

Then there was the take away delicious crispy pork noodle bowl at just $10.50. it was another great combination of flavours that worked so well together texturally and packed full of the drool factor.

I’m positive you wont be dissapointed with what Sit Lo has to offer, and you will go back again and again to try more of the menu like we have.

Bon Appetite

The perfect snack

IMG_0064

Seriously a simple snack idea just in time for the school holidays!
How easy is this?

it has all the elements to make a perfect treat for kids and for us adults too.

Spread as best you can peanut butter all over your banana. you might also like to use Nutella. Roll your banana log in a plate full of rice bubbles. slice on a board and ENJOY

The Locavore – Stirling

On a beautiful day where the sun is shining, the tunes are playing in the back ground, the cafe is packed you know your in for something TOPS.
The menu looked appertising and the food coming out looked very good value for money. However when you’ve already eaten lunch you succumb to dessert with a coffee!
Spanish baked cheese cake with apricot compot

IMG_1132.JPG

And a delicious looking dessert it was!
The serving size was very reasonable, enough to say it was on the larger side. However it was missing something, it was missing a crunch, a crumble, a BASE. It desperately needed another texture to the plate. Hands down faultless in flavour with what was presented. A nice rich creamy fluffy cheese, with yumtastic apricots.

IMG_1131.JPG
The kids enjoyed a VERY CHOCOLATE iced chocolate, that was delish!
Our coffee was strong, but was very much needed this way after dragging 3 children through the stirling market!

We will go back, for the food looked fantastic and everything had a reasonable price tag for a couple.

The Pantry On Egmont

Seriously YUM = The Pantry on Egmont

This week we enjoyed a spontaneous lunch together. Of course The Pantry is probably in our TOP 5 places to visit in Adelaide so it wasn’t a hard choice when given the chance to go out for lunch, on where to go and what to choose. The worst part was deciding what to have because I felt like lunch but am always torn between them offering a BEAUT all day breakky!

Always a place to visit if you are on the out skirts of the city and are looking for a quirky little cafe with an all day breakfast.
